MBTA Officer Thrown From Motorcycle, Seriously Injured In Dedham: Police

An MBTA Police Officer is recovering after they were thrown from a motorcycle during a procession in Dedham this week, according to authorities.

Officers responded to the crash involving a truck and a motorcycle in the area of 308 Bridge Street just before 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17, Dedham Police Chief Michael d’Entremont told Daily Voice. Both vehicles were part of a procession traveling on Bridge Street, d’Entremont added.

The officer, who was on-duty and helping with escorting the procession, was apparently thrown from his motorcycle in the area of 5 Wiggin Avenue, d’Entremont said. The officer was treated on scene before being taken to Beth Israel Hospital in Boston with serious injuries. 

Police were telling motorists to avoid the area until the scene is clear. The crash is under investigation.
